Biblically, 666 in Revelation 13:18, is the “number of the beast” and a man, symbolizing evil, opposition to God, and fallen humanity
Key Biblical References & Interpretations
Revelation 13:18: This verse calls for wisdom to “calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666”.
Symbolism of 6 vs. 7: In the Bible, 7 often means perfection or completeness; 6, being one short, symbolizes imperfection, and three times six (666) emphasizes total failure and evil.

Brief Introduction KJV Only Patterns: What Is A Pattern?
According to KJVCode.com:
At its most basic definition, a pattern is something that is pre-determined by a designer who arranged it in a particular way or place with purpose and intent. In the context of the King James Bible (KJV/KJB/AV), a “pattern” refers to a sequence or design that is discernible within the text. On our website, we explore these patterns as indicators of God’s divine hand over scripture, specifically the end-times book he had in mind as prophesied in Isaiah 34:16. These patterns often revolve around the number 7, which symbolizes completion, oath, rest, and perfection in the Bible. Other patterns involve significant numbers such as 153, 666, and more. These patterns suggest a level of complexity and intentionality beyond mere chance. By studying these patterns, we believe others will also realize the hand of God over the most printed and read Bible in the history of our faith.
Ask AI: What's the difference? King James textus receptus vs modern bibles
We used Google to ask the following :

‘Below we display the search results including ( if applicable ) our mark-ups in ‘green italics‘

AI Results :
The King James Version (KJV) is based on the Textus Receptus (TR), an older Greek New Testament text from a few late manuscripts, while most modern Bibles (NIV, ESV, NASB) use the Critical Text (CT), compiled from older, more numerous manuscripts, resulting in significant doctrinal and textual differences like missing verses (e.g., Mark 16, John 7:53-8:11) or variant wording (e.g., Matthew 5:22, 1 John 5:7) that some see as preserving stronger doctrine in the TR versus more historically accurate readings in the CT. The debate centers on which textual tradition better reflects the original writings, with KJV proponents favoring the TR’s alignment with the Majority Text, while modern translations prioritize the earliest manuscript evidence in the Critical Text.
Textual Basis
KJV/Textus Receptus (TR): The KJV translators used the Textus Receptus, a series of Greek texts (like those by Erasmus, Stephanus, Beza) compiled from a limited number of late Byzantine manuscripts.
Modern Bibles/Critical Text (CT): Most contemporary translations (NIV, ESV, NASB, etc.) rely on the Critical Text (Nestle-Aland/UBS), which uses a much broader range of older and earlier Greek manuscripts, including Alexandrian ones.
Key Differences
Manuscript Age: CT uses much older manuscripts (like Codex Sinaiticus, Vaticanus) than the TR, which is based on later copies.
Content: The CT often omits verses or phrases found in the TR (e.g., Mark 16:9-20, John 7:53-8:11, Matthew 17:21, 1 John 5:7), which are absent in earlier manuscripts but present in the Byzantine majority.
Wording: Significant word variations exist (e.g., “without cause” in Matt 5:22 in TR vs. CT; “alms” vs. “acts of righteousness” in Matt 6:1).
The Debate
KJV/TR Supporters: Argue the TR/Majority Text preserves more of the original text, points to stronger doctrine, and the KJV translators were divinely guided, viewing CT omissions as harmful additions.
Modern Translation Supporters: Argue the CT is more accurate because it relies on the oldest available manuscripts, representing the text closest to the original autographs, and that KJV differences are scribal additions.
In Essence
The KJV offers a text considered by some to be more robust doctrinally, rooted in the Byzantine tradition (Textus Receptus), while modern Bibles provide a text revised based on the earliest manuscript evidence, leading to differences in specific verses and wording, which can impact theological understanding for some readers.

When this pattern evidence was first presented to us we too were highly skeptical. We did a lot of research before even clicking the link. Thankfully, we finally decided to get into it and see what we would find.
If you are interested in verifying the word count patterns you will need PRECISE word counts in the KJV.
We use and only recommend PureBibleSearch.com
Why trust PURE BIBLE SEARCH? Why does it get different counts sometimes than other bible software available?
Most online bible apps do not give accurate word counts. (examples : Blue Letter Bible, LOGOS, etc.) ( video on why below )
This can be a problem if you are depending on getting an accurate count of words to verify potential significant patterns in a bible.
The reason that Pure Bible Search is the most dependable for counting words is that it was designed from the ground-up to be a word counter. To simplify, it was coded more like a spreadsheet that contains each word in a cell, thus making searching more precise. The engine is able to distinguish between Capitalized, ALL CAPS, words that have apostrophes, dashes, and other variations that can affect an accurate word count.
Another great feature is that the engine makes it easy to search for multiple variations at once.
All patterns detailed on the site are found in the standardized KJV printed today (Cambridge Concord) and verified with King James Pure Bible Search.
We have personally verified many of these patterns in a physical KJV bible as well . Please contact us via email if you have questions or if you find discrepancies with anything you find here. We would never want to mislead anyone and if you can’t figure out a pattern and wish to discuss then we will do all within our power to prove what we can. If not, we will remove it from our site.

Our Opinion Of This Evidence Found On KJVCode.com
These patterns our not our original work. We applaud the men and women who have presented this work which is found at KJVCode.com
We give them all credit for this work.
So, what is our opinion? Does this come as close as we can to objectively proving God’s inspiration of the bible?
Yes, we think so.
These patterns seem to us to be one of God’s ways to ‘verify authenticity’ of His Word in English. Therefore, since these patterns are not encoded into other English bibles, then we would be suspicious about them in comparison to the KJV. Going forward, when we are pressed to choose which ‘version’ of God’s Word to rely on, it’s clear that the KJV must be the standard.
If you didn’t know, almost every modern bible draws from different texts than the KJV used. They include use of what are known as the ‘Critical Texts’ rather than the ‘Received Texts / Textus Receptus’ only. Therefore, when using alternate English versions we end up with versions of the bible that remove whole passages compared to the KJV. These bible ‘versions’ keep changing words, adding words, removing words, etc. Consequently they are changing these obvious, beautiful, and precise number patterns.
Summarized : If the Word of God contradicts itself then it is not valid. It’s clear the Word of God has been preserved in the KJV and all others need to be considered suspect at best. We are not opposed to looking at various definitions of words and translating words so that we understand, but it is a completely different thing to remove and add words. And when you put everything on the table at once and if you decide to bet your soul on a bible, then we suggest you get a KJV and don’t bother as much with the others.
What Is Special About Patterns?
Math is consistent across all cultures and is not biased. It has been postulated that if ‘aliens’ existed or other intelligent species that math would be a way to try and communicate. That is because two plus two will always equal four no matter where you are in the world, and no matter the culture or world.
Knowing this, God may be using numbers to convey objective truth, since the patterns are verifiable.
With that said, throughout the bible the number 7 is most often associated with something being “finished” or “complete”.
Example: God rested on and sanctified the 7th day.
We hope that once you spend some time looking at this subject, realize that this is a REAL phenomenon, and start to get a grasp of the intensity of this subject, it should be sufficient proof of the divine authorship & preservation of God’s Word as presented in the KJV before any other text.

Jesus Marks the Devil with 666 in the Wilderness

Summary
In the famous confrontation between Jesus and Satan, detailed in Matthew 4 / Luke 4, there is a peculiar anomaly that stands out: Jesus only quotes from the book of Deuteronomy. The devil delivers 3 temptations, and Jesus quotes scripture from Deuteronomy every single time.
When you look at the verses that Jesus quotes from the book of Deuteronomy, you realize the Lord was putting a 666 on the devil with verse divisions that didn’t even exist at the time of Christ.
Breakdown
First, in Matthew 4:4, Jesus quotes the 248th verse of Deuteronomy.
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:3-4
Second, in Matthew 4:7, Jesus quotes the 210th verse of Deuteronomy.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Matthew 4:5-7
Last, in Matthew 4:10, Jesus quotes the 207th verse of Deuteronomy, with a truth drawn from the following verse. He doesn’t quote the 208th verse, but he does draw truth directly from it and applies it to the 207th verse. This is how we get the (+1) in the total sum of verse positions.
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Matthew 4:8-10
And when we add it all together, the total sum is:
Verse Positions of Deuteronomy
(248 + 210 + (207+1)) = 666
Coherence
It’s important to note that in the last temptation (Matthew 4:8-10), Jesus could have been quoting from either Deuteronomy 6:13 (the 207th verse), or Deuteronomy 10:20 (the 314th verse), since they are nearly identical. The only we know that Jesus was quoting from the 207th is because he says:
“…him only shalt thou serve…” (Matthew 4:10)
That word “only” is not found in Deut 6:13 or 10:20, but is rather a truth drawn from the following verse: Deuteronomy 6:14. It wouldn’t work with Deuteronomy 10:20-21. This is what gives us logical grounds to use a (+1) in the count. Without that additional (+1) verse, we wouldn’t know if Jesus was quoting from verse #207 or #314.

Example 2: All Men Marked with 666 + “Six Hundred” + “Threescore” + “Six” Found in 666 Verses
Summary From KJVCode.com : visit them to see over 100 awesome patterns like these.
The most notorious number in the Bible is the infamous 666. The “number of the beast”, or “that antichrist” as he is called in 1 John 2:18.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Revelation 13:18

There are only 3 men associated with the number 666 in the Bible:

Solomon (666 talents of gold, 1 Kings 10:14)
Adonikam (666 children, Ezra 2:13)
The Beast in Revelation (666 is the number of his name, Revelation 13:18)
When we perform a search for the only three persons in the Bible associated with the number 666, along with the number itself, we get the following pattern:
(Solomon + Adonikam + Beast) + six
= 666 mentions in the Entire Bible – detailed here
(Solomon + Adonikam + Beast) + six hundred + threescore + six
= 666 verses in the Entire Bible
Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,
1 Kings 10:14
The children of Adonikam, six hundred sixty and six.
Ezra 2:13
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Revelation 13:18
Example 3: 666th Mention of *Jesus* is False Prophet Bar-jesus in Acts 13:6
Summary From KJVCode.com : visit them to see over 100 awesome patterns like these.
666th Mention of *Jesus* is False Prophet Bar-jesus in Acts 13:6
And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar–jesus: Acts 13:6

When we look at all mentions of *Jesus* in the King James Bible, the sorcerer & false prophet Bar-jesus in Acts 13:6 resides as mention #666. This is the only mention of Bar-jesus in the entire Bible, and the only time we see lowercase “jesus” in the Bible, and with perhaps a half-exception in 2 Corinthians 11:4, it’s also the only antichrist-form of “Jesus” in the Bible. It just so happens to be the 666th mention.
An interesting aspect to this alignment is that the KJB translators chose to translate ιησου as Jesus instead of Joshua in Acts 7:45, which is what allows for Bar-jesus to be the 666th appearance of Jesus in the Bible. If they did indeed translate ιησου as Joshua, then Bar-jesus would have been the 665th mention instead of the 666th.
Furthermore, the actual name of Bar-jesus is Elymas according to Acts 13:8, which means the scripture technically didn’t have to call him Bar-jesus at all. Why make any connection between this false prophet and the name of Jesus? Yet it does, and it certainly feels like this was intentionally done by the Holy Ghost to fill the role of Jesus’ 666th mention in the book of the LORD (Isaiah 34:16). Would the Holy Ghost do such a thing? We believe so. We serve the God whose work is perfect, infinite in understanding. Names are important and deliberate to God. We even find the Holy Ghost renaming Saul in this passage with Bar-jesus (Acts 13:9), which forms astonishing patterns related to the name of Paul.
Praise the Lord for yet another 666 witness in the midst of many others that defy human wisdom. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16
Example 4: Modern Scribes End the Gospel of Mark on Verse #666
Summary From KJVCode.com : visit them to see over 100 awesome patterns like these.
The 666th verse of Mark in the King James Bible is Mark 16:8. Coincidentally, scholars believe these are the actual last words written by Mark. They think the last 12 verses were added by a later scribe and are therefore not inspired scripture. These last 12 verses include Christ’s bodily appearance after his resurrection, his proclamation to preach the gospel to all creatures, and his heavenly ascension to the right hand of the Father. Thus, scholars believe the Gospel of Mark should not include any of these details, and instead end on verse #666.
Note: Modern Bibles delete other verses in Mark, which makes the count a little bit lower than 666. However, these same modern bibles adhere to the verse numbering standard of the King James Bible. The first 15 chapters of Mark, in all modern Bibles, end on the exact number of verses detailed in the featured image.
It’s a mathematical fact that Mark 16:8 is the 666th verse of Mark in the King James Bible, and that’s where most modern scholars believe the Gospel should end.

Total: 666 mentions.

Example 7: Ai + Beast* + Six* 666x in the Bible
Summary From KJVCode.com : visit them to see over 100 awesome patterns like these.
The word “Ai” in the Bible is clearly not referring to “artificial intelligence”. It’s referring to a city that temporarily defeated Israel in the 7th chapter of Joshua. Yet we see the most bizarre coincidence with this word showing up in the King James Bible, and we can safely say the King James translators had nothing to do with it.
In the Entire Bible
Ai = 36x
beast* = 337x
six* = 293x
Total (36 + 337 + 293) = 666 mentions of Ai + beast* + six*

In the Scriptures
Isn’t it odd that John wrote about an image of the beast that would come alive and both speak, and cause everybody in the earth to worship itself? With the rise of artificial intelligence, we are beginning to see how this prophecy could be fulfilled in a literal sense.
So here’s a question: if God knew about A.I.—and even foretold it nearly 2000 years ago through the apostle John—could he not have providentially guided his word to reveal such a thing as this? Where he openly shows us the connection between the beast and the image? Certainly it is possible. God is more than capable of taking words that mean something in particular and twisting them to mean something else, fulfilling his own prophetic purpose. We see this explicitly in John 11:49–52, where Caiaphas spoke more than he understood—unknowingly prophesying the death of Jesus, who would die for the nation and for the world.
It almost seems like such a thing is happening, but with the exact number that we are told to count in Revelation 13:18. The number of the beast.
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Revelation 13:18
And now, we have not just two or three witnesses, but four:
Ai = 36x in the Bible (Ai kills 36 men of Israel), 36 = 6×6, T36 = 666
Ai + beast = 216x = 6x6x6 mentions in the Bible
Ai + six hundred + threescore + six = 396x = 66×6 mentions in the Bible
Ai + beast* + six* = 666 mentions in the Bible (This page)
Could this all be random chance?
Maybe. Maybe not.
Time will tell.
We thought it best to warn you of it, because it certainly doesn’t look like coincidence to us.
Example 8: The Devil + Sin + Sins 666x
Summary From KJVCode.com : visit them to see over 100 awesome patterns like these.
In the entire text of the King James Bible there are exactly 666 occurrences of the words “the devil“, sin & sins.
In the Entire Bible
the devil = 46x
sin = 448x
sins = 172x
Total: 666 mentions.

Example 9: Ai + Beast 6x6x6 in the Bible
Summary From KJVCode.com : visit them to see over 100 awesome patterns like these.
What is going on here? The way that “Ai” shows up in the King James Bible is very startling, producing a triple six with both the beast and the number 666 itself.
Ai + beast = 216 mentions in the Bible, which is 6x6x6

At the mouth of two or three witnesses is every word established. This is the third witness in Occam’s Razor fashion where we are seeing a perfect match in the most simple way imaginable.
Ai = 36 mentions (36 = 6×6, T36 = 666)
Ai + six hundred + threescore + six = 396 mentions (66×6)
Ai + beast = 216 mentions (6x6x6)
Ai + beast* + six* = 666 mentions

Example 10: Verse #666 of the New Testament: Christ Will Be Betrayed unto Death (by the son of perdition)
Summary From KJVCode.com : visit them to see over 100 awesome patterns like these.
In the 666th verse of the New Testament (Matthew 20:18), Christ prophesies that he will shortly be betrayed (by Judas Iscariot, the son of perdition) and condemned to death.

John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
