Ron Wyatt re-introduced the ark to the world and was ridiculed. This site was mentioned before Wyatt in antiquity as well. Maybe there’s something to it.

Today more evidence is devolping that may once and for all prove that he was correct.

Discovered in 1948 and popularized in the 1980s, it features subsurface, unnatural, angular, and layered structures that some researchers argue represent a man-made vessel, often citing higher organic material in soil samples.

Key Details and Controversy:

Site Features: The structure matches the approximate length described in the Bible and is located in the Ağrı Province, near Dogubayazıt, approximately 15 miles from Mt. Ararat.
Scientific View: Geologists and scientists generally identify the site as a natural, geological, or man-made formation rather than a ship, explaining its shape through natural erosion, lava flows, and sedimentary layers.
Recent Claims (2023-2025): New ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scans in 2023 and 2025 revealed, according to some, what look like chambers, walls, and multiple decks, sparking renewed, though debated, interest.
Findings: Soil tests have reportedly shown higher organic content and metallic remnants, interpreted by some as decayed wood. Conversely, critics argue the materials are natural, such as limonite and magnetite.

Despite the ongoing debates and claims of “compelling evidence,” the scientific community largely considers the Durupınar formation a natural geologic feature, specifically a syncline or mudflow, rather than the remains of the biblical ark.

[Gen 6:14-16 KJV] 14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15 And this [is the fashion] which thou shalt make it [of]: The length of the ark [shall be] three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; [with] lower, second, and third [stories] shalt thou make it.

When we put these original biblical terms into the context of the organic compounds that form the structural basis of trees and industrial applications of lumber, the coincidence is remarkable. For all practical purposes, God is speaking a scientific truth to Noah in telling him to use a form of plant material with sulphur-bearing lignin. Furthermore, since the word “wood” (i.e., “tree” or “timber”) in gopher wood is the plural form of the Hebrew Ö°×¢×¥ (‘êá¹£), this fits well with the fact that wooden ships are typically built of many types of hardwood. Some woods work well for the ship’s hull, while others are used for support structures, deck planking, and other features—yet all would be sulphur-bearing tree kinds.

Given the great depth of God’s wisdom in Scripture, the scientific truth of sulphur-bearing lignified plant tissue yields profound insight into His eternal purposes in judgment and redemption.
