Age of the Earth

We have reviewed this Ai response and it seems acceptable on the surface, but in reality lacks deeper insight or is missing some key points’ based on our studies on this difficult issue. It’s understandable because this issue is related to many underlying assumptions on many topics. We hope within this topical study more light will be shed on the various points made and some of the nuances involved to gain enough background on the underlying assumptions.

Our Goal Is Truth

Sometimes the point of sharing controversial evidence is to highlight the fact that there is still controversy.

In order to foster an open dialogue with both believers and non-believers, we hope to shed light on these topics because they affect us all. We are not trying to ‘prove’ anything, but we hope to foster exploration of all of our underlying prejudices.

That should be enough for anyone seeking to hold off on making a verdict against the bible, or God ; We concede that this evidence should not immediately result in a verdict that the bible is true, either.  Like in soccer ( football for the rest of the world ) a tie may be acceptable for now.  Let’s see at the end of the season. 

Our Humble Stance On This Topic

Our ministry takes and encourages a humble stance on certain debatable topics like this.

There are no mic drop moments coming on this topic ; it’s a very broad topic and there are many factors to take into account. We will address some of the factors at play and some of the alternative views that are being debated.

What we know and take a firm stance on :

Our salvation doesn’t depend on this issue. For believers, our call to trust and follow Jesus does not depend on the body of Christ agreeing on topics such as this. We must first keep in mind that we are to love and have respect for those seeking truth both inside and outside of the body.

For both believers and nonbelievers it’s good to remember that new science and new information constantly shows up.

We have seen time and again where God has plenty of ways to defend His Word.

Neither side knows everything.

We here each have personal opinions on this topic, but at the end of the day have come to simply trust the bible, realize that we all miss things, perhaps misinterpret them as well, and that there is more than one way to view some of these topics that won’t change during any of our lifetime’s here. The Holy Spirit God gave us will eventually guide us to all truth. God has an everlasting way of being right on many levels ; and we have a little less enviable track record. But we have learned to be humble, and that is a good thing.

This issue, like many others, has caused a lot of drama on all sides.  

We, on behalf of believers, want to make an open apology to both believers, as well as those who are non-believers.

If any church, or professing believer in the bible has ever told you or someone you know that they can not be saved or truly be a Christian if they don’t interpret the creation accounts in Genesis or other passages of the bible in the same way they understand it, then they are preaching false doctrine and should be ignored and prayed for.  

We apologize for their lack of followng, or never truly accepting and offeing charity ( love sourced in Jesus and the Holy Ghost ). 

Jude 1:12 KJV – These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds [they are] without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

Let us all pray that God will open their understanding and help all parties to heal.   

We hope that if this has or ever happens to you or a loved one that we all  remember that Jesus first asked us to forgive one another.

The Good News is that Jesus is the Supreme Mediator.  Mediation is a form of negotiation; the parties talk things through, and no one is forced to accept a settlement.

  • Mediation is free.
  • Mediation is fair and neutral.
  • Mediation saves time and money.
  • Mediation is confidential.
  • Mediation avoids litigation.
  • Mediation fosters cooperation.
  • Mediation improves communication.

We should all realize.  The Word isn’t going anywhere it doesn’t want to go.  

Jesus allows Himself and His Word to be taken and examined, and is willing to face the scrutiny of the ‘high priests’ of science or religion face to face, so that He can open all of our eyes that truly He is the Son of God, and that God’s Word is true.

Therefore, for believers, its’ not our battle.  

And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. [Luke 22:50-51 KJV]

Let’s start by asking Jesus to heal our ears.  We will ask Him to mediate between all of us so that we don’t harm one another with ‘our knowledge’ whether we serve Jesus and consider ourselves His ‘disciples’, or we currently serve the ‘high priests’ of science and the world. 

For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; [1 Timothy 2:5 KJV]

We know a person who was convinced that people in the church did not realize that the age of the earth was only 6,000 years old.  Convinced there was enough evidence to ‘prove’ the case they joined a bible study in hopes of helping to open their eyes.  

Quickly it became apparent that many people in the study believed the earth to be older, or had vastly different concepts about the bible in general.  Weeks and weeks went by and neither side were much closer to the other on their understanding, however rather than fuss and fidget over the details of orbital spin and light speeds the people who were truly born again by the Holy Spirit started to become close friends, appreciate each other, respect each other, and love one another.  That is the Holy Spirit.  

After prayer, what was revealed to the believer was that believers and non-believers alike have hurt one another and made it hard to hear each other on many topics.  

In the world we live in there is division on these issues, but there is not enough love. 

It takes believeing in Jesus to be saved, then it’s not a quesiton of the age of the earth.  What we believe about the age, size, shape of the earth will not make one bit of difference towards our salvation, or our place in God’s kingdom.  Without Jesus, we won’t be in God’s eternal kingdom.  If we have Jesus, then we should have enough love, patience and kindness to sort through the other issues.  

So why even make this website?  It seems most important to expose the issues at hand, encourage others to know that many views are out there, so it’s time to reconsider all of our pre-conceived notions about space, time, age, tilt, based on examinations of the earth, and start to examine their own hearts.  We encourage everyone that without accepting the help of Jesus it won’t matter.  Unforgiven scientists, as well as unforgiven false Christians who are religious, but have not truly been saved by Jesus will all wind up in the same place. 

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 KJV – Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become [as] sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. Our conclusion: 

Our adivce is that we don’t know everything and neither does everyone else on some matters.  If God reveals things to us through science that is great…but He would rather reveal them to us by faith.
