Let's Get To The Heart Of The Matter First
God is a Spirit, not a religion. Yes, the bible is a religious book, but it is also a spiritual book. God is the Spirit of Truth. God’s Word has multiple functions that include both religious and spiritual works, concepts and applications. No religious work can get you to God. Jesus did the work of dying for your sins on the cross. Religious people killed Him. But the good news is that He rose again (in the flesh) on the third day by the Spirit of God because He had not sinned. [John 1:17 KJV] For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. [John 4:24 KJV] God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. The Spirit of God knows you better than you know yourself. He will ‘validate’ your belief and personally send you His Spirit when He knows you have come into agreement with Him and believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and that He rose again. Until then, you are simply playing at religion, but you will never fool God. Jesus said [John 3:7 KJV] Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Now let’s learn about:
Bible Basics + Spiritual
Who Can Be Saved?
Who Can Be Saved?
“Who then can be saved?” is a question from the Bible (Matthew 19:25, Mark 10:26, Luke 18:26) asked by Jesus’s disciples after He said it’s hard for a rich person to enter heaven, leading to Jesus’s famous answer: “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible,” meaning salvation isn’t through human effort but through God’s power and grace, available to all who have faith in Jesus Christ and follow His teachings.
Context of the Question
The Rich Young Ruler: Jesus told a rich young man to sell his possessions and follow Him to have eternal life, a command the man CHOSE NOT TO follow due to his wealth.
He was afraid more of what he may lose, and ignorant of what he would truly gain. Not only pardon from sins, but also eternal life with God through Christ.
Disciples’ Astonishment: The disciples were shocked, thinking wealth was a sign of God’s favor, so they asked, “Who then can be saved?” if even the rich struggle to enter heaven.
Jesus’s Answer
Impossibility for Humans: Jesus emphasized that salvation is impossible through human power or keeping rules perfectly.
Possibility with God: The key is that God makes the impossible possible through faith and divine intervention, not human merit.
Who Can Be Saved (Biblical Perspective)
ALL Those who believe in Jesus Christ, his death, burial and resurrection.
By Him they are placing their faith in the Son of God.
Evidence of their belief will be seen in their ‘fruits’ or ‘works’ that follow. Such as repentance, turning away from sins they were serving before being gifted the Holy Spirit.
Salvation is a divine gift, obtained by FAITH in Jesus, and not a human achievement, and it’s available to anyone who puts their trust in Jesus and His goodness, promises and power, not their own.
